United Services by Permaco, Inc., also known as CallUSFirst, is hiring experienced Property Restoration Technicians and Crew Leaders to join our growing team in Lake Bluff, Illinois.

Since 1981, we have helped homeowners and businesses recover from fire, water, mold, storm, smoke, and other property damage. As a full-service disaster restoration and reconstruction company, we guide customers from emergency response and cleanup through repairs and reconstruction.

This is meaningful, hands-on work for an experienced trades professional who takes pride in quality craftsmanship, works well with others, and wants to make a difference for customers during challenging situations.

Position Summary

As a Property Restoration Technician, you will perform hands-on restoration, reconstruction, repair, and remodeling work in residential and commercial properties. Depending on your experience, you may join us as a crew member or step into a Crew Leader position with additional responsibilities and earning potential.

Every project is different. One day you may help repair a property following water damage; another may involve fire restoration, demolition, drywall, carpentry, flooring, painting, or finish work.

What You’ll Do

  • Perform restoration, reconstruction, repair, and renovation work.

  • Complete carpentry, drywall, painting, flooring, demolition, installation, and general construction tasks based on your experience.

  • Follow project scopes, safety procedures, and direction from the Superintendent or Crew Leader.

  • Protect customer belongings and unaffected areas during the work.

  • Maintain clean, organized, and professional jobsites.

  • Inspect your work and correct quality concerns before considering a task complete.

  • Communicate progress, material needs, additional damage, and field concerns promptly.

  • Work respectfully with customers, coworkers, subcontractors, and project leaders.

  • Participate in scheduled emergency and after-hours response.

What We’re Looking For

  • Experience in property restoration, remodeling, construction, carpentry, or another related skilled trade.

  • Experience working in residential or commercial properties.

  • Knowledge of common construction materials, tools, and safe work practices.

  • Dependability, attention to detail, and pride in quality workmanship.

  • Ability to follow project scopes, instructions, and safety procedures.

  • Strong communication skills and a team-oriented attitude.

  • High school diploma or GED.

  • Valid driver’s license and an insurable driving record.

Experience with fire and water damage restoration, reconstruction, drywall, painting, flooring, finish carpentry, or crew leadership is especially valuable.

What Success Looks Like

  • Work is completed safely, correctly, and efficiently.

  • Workmanship meets United Services’ quality standards.

  • Customer belongings and unaffected areas remain protected.

  • Jobsites are kept clean, organized, and professional.

  • Material needs and potential problems are communicated early.

  • Customers and teammates are treated with respect.

  • Commitments are honored and assigned work is completed reliably.
